By the Date Overnight editorial teamUpdated · 5 min read

In short

Date Overnight is a real adults-only dating site run by Ambervine Inc, a Delaware company. Joining and browsing are free; reading and replying to messages needs a paid membership that renews until you cancel in Settings > Billing. Photos are reviewed, but what members write is not checked, and profiles are shared with partner sites in the same network.

This page is written by Date Overnight itself, so it isn't a review. What we can do is give you the facts you'd want from any paid dating site before handing over a card number, including the parts that aren't flattering.

The answer in one table

Date Overnight is a real, registered company's dating site, with clear rules on cost and cancelling, and real limits on what it checks. Here's where it stands on the questions people usually ask:

Question Answer
Is there a named company behind it? Yes: Ambervine Inc, Newark, Delaware, USA
Can I try it before paying? Yes: joining, making a profile and browsing are free
What do I pay for? Reading and replying to messages, and a few other features
Does it renew automatically? Yes, until you cancel in Settings > Billing
Are profiles verified? No. Photos are reviewed; what people write isn't checked
Is my profile only on this site? No. It's shared with partner sites in the same network
Can I delete my account? Yes: avatar > Settings > Delete Account

Who runs it

Date Overnight is run by Ambervine Inc, a Delaware company at 131 Continental Drive, Suite 305, Newark, DE 19713, USA. The same name appears on our facts page and on About, and it should match the company named in the members-area footer and terms. If you see a different company named when you pay, stop and contact the help centre before going further.

What's free and what you pay for

You can see whether the site is useful before you spend anything. Joining, making a profile and browsing are free, with adverts. Reading and replying to messages needs a paid membership, as do seeing who's viewed you, seeing likes and viewing photos in full. The members area shows the price and currency before you pay; our prices page has the table.

Every plan renews automatically until you cancel in Settings > Billing, including any trial or introductory offer. Forgotten renewals are a familiar complaint about subscription sites of every kind. Set a reminder when you pay.

What's checked, and what isn't

Photos are reviewed before they appear. What people write about themselves is not checked by anyone, so a profile's age, job, relationship status and travel plans are claims, not facts.

An ID-verified badge is optional and costs extra. It shows that someone passed an ID and selfie check by LEM Verify. Most members won't have one.

The network's members terms also say plainly that profiles and interactions may not always be what they seem. Take that seriously.

Signs a profile isn't what it seems

The US Federal Trade Commission's advice on romance scams applies on any dating site, this one included. Be cautious, stop replying and report the profile if someone:

  • builds intense interest very quickly, then pushes to move off the site to another app
  • can never quite meet, or always has a reason to cancel
  • mentions money in any form: a ticket, a fee, a visa, a medical bill, a gift card or an investment
  • asks you to pay by wire transfer, gift card, a money-transfer app or cryptocurrency, which are hard to reverse

Never send money or gifts to someone you haven't met in person. Our safety page lists where to report a scam in the US, UK, Canada and Australia, and the travel safety checklist covers meeting in person.

Your profile is shared across a network

Date Overnight shares one member database with partner sites in the same network. Your profile can be seen by members of those sites, and they can message you; profiles show which site each person joined through. This is how a site like this can show you people in the city you're visiting, but it also means your profile reaches further than one website. Keep your surname, employer and hotel out of it.

Billing, cancelling and deleting

Charges may not appear as "Date Overnight" on your statement, so make a note of the billing name shown at checkout before you pay. Refunds are governed by the members-area terms.

  1. Cancel a membership: Settings > Billing. This stops the next renewal.
  2. Delete your account: avatar > Settings > Delete Account. This removes your profile.
  3. Questions about a charge: the contact page explains how to reach the help centre; include the date and amount.

Cancelling and deleting are separate. If you want both, do both.

How to check any dating site before you pay

The same five checks work for Date Overnight and for any other paid dating site:

  1. Find the company. A real operator's name and address should be on the site and in the terms, and they should match.
  2. Find the renewal rule. Look for whether plans renew automatically and exactly where you cancel.
  3. Find the billing name. Know what will appear on your card statement before you pay.
  4. Find what's checked. Look for plain wording on what the site reviews and what it doesn't.
  5. Find the refund policy. Read it in the terms, not in an advert.

If any of these is missing or vague, think twice before paying.

Who Date Overnight suits, and who it doesn't

Date Overnight is a reasonable fit for adults who travel and want the chance of company on a free evening, and who are comfortable with a paid, auto-renewing membership. It's a poor fit if you need a promised outcome, checked profiles or a site that only shows members who joined through it.

Likely to suit you Probably not for you
You travel to the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Portugal or South Africa Your trips are mostly to countries the network doesn't accept members from
You're happy to browse free first and pay only if there's someone to talk to You want to message people without any paid plan
You'll set a reminder to cancel before a plan renews You'd rather not manage a subscription
You expect to meet in public first and keep your own way back You want the site to vouch for the people you meet

If it sounds right, browse free before deciding anything.

What we don't claim

We don't publish member numbers, success stories or response times, and we don't say profiles are verified, because they aren't. Date Overnight is for adults 18 and over (21 in Alabama, Mississippi, Nebraska and Wyoming). It's a way to find someone to talk to and perhaps meet while you're away; it doesn't promise how any evening ends. How Date Overnight works explains the rest.

Questions people ask

Is this an independent review?

No. This page is written by Date Overnight, so it sticks to checkable facts and tells you what isn't checked, rather than giving ourselves a score. For an outside view, read the members-area terms yourself and look for independent reviews, bearing in mind that any review site can be gamed.

Why doesn't my statement say Date Overnight?

Payments are taken through the members area's checkout, and the name on your statement may not be Date Overnight. The checkout shows the billing name before you pay, so make a note of it. If you still can't match a charge, contact the help centre with the date and amount.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Go to your avatar > Settings > Delete Account. Cancel any membership in Settings > Billing as well, because deleting a profile and stopping a renewal are separate steps. Check the confirmation for each, and keep it until your next statement arrives.

Are the profiles on Date Overnight real?

Photos are reviewed before they appear, but what members write about themselves isn't checked, and the network's members terms say profiles and interactions may not always be what they seem. Treat every profile as a claim until you've met in public, and never send money.

What should I do about a charge I didn't expect?

Check whether a plan renewed: every plan renews automatically until cancelled. Cancel in Settings > Billing to stop the next charge, then contact the help centre with the date and amount. If you can't resolve it, your card issuer can explain your options.
